Lofoten in September

At our Northern Norway Photo Workshop, we will visit the most spectacular locations of the Lofoten Islands, but also we offer an extension to visit Senja. In this workshop, you will immerse yourself in an epic photographic adventure. Peaked mountains emerging from the ocean, astonishing Norwegian fjords, paradisiacal beaches… All with the incredible colors of autumn and the majestic Aurora Borealis. You can not ask for more!

It is an ideal date to travel to the Arctic. The northern lights season begins, which usually has fairly high activity in the month of September. In addition, the trees will be stained in orange and reddish colors, offering endless photographic possibilities. It will make a perfect contrast with the beautiful turquoise green of the Arctic beaches and the gigantic Nordic mountains. It will also still be a good time to do routes and excursions to some of the most spectacular viewpoints in Norway.

During these days we will visit the most incredible locations of the Lofoten Islands (Moskenesøya, Flakstadøya, and Vestvågøya). It includes Reine and Hamnoy, the most beautiful fishing villages in Norway. At night, if the predictions are good, we will go in search of the northern lights, which we can photograph in different places.

During our extension to the amazing island of Senja, we will take several walks to viewpoints with unique views. It will be a trip that you will never forget. It’s going to be epic! Write to us before or after booking for more info.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Leknes airport

We will meet at Leknes airport, where we will start our Lofoten Islands Photo Tour. From here, we will drive to our accommodation in Hamnøy.

According to the arrival of all participants we will be enjoying the sunset in this iconic location. Also, according to the forecast during the night we will have our first session of northern lights at Hamnøy & Reine.

Days 2-6Lofoten Islands

During the next 5 days we will be exploring the nearest locations of Lofoten Islands. According to the weather conditions every day, we will be choosing between the numerous famous & secret locations around our base in Hamnøy.

From the famous spots at the same Hamnøy or Reine, to other beautiful villages as Å, Varied or Nusfjord. All this in the environment of amazing landscapes with snowy mountains and breathtaking seascapes as Skagsanden or Uttakleiv as example.

Also during these days, we will visit other unknown landscapes and viewpoints, as caves or waterfalls less know for the usual workshops. In our breaks during the days, we will have time for some post-processing lessons. So we will be able to edit the pics that we will be taking during our tour.

And of course, every night, we will be looking for the forecast to photograph the Northern Lights in all these locations. The datas choose for our travel, match with the new moon and large nights, giving us the perfect conditions to photograph this phenomenon. Definitely, a complete photography workshop to visit the polar landscapes of Lofoten.

Day 7 End of the trip / Start of Extension in September

Drive to Leknes airport where we will tell goodbye to this Lofoten Islands Photo Tour. During September, you can join us in an extension to visit the amazing locations at Senja. So today, we will drive to our hotel in the area to be ready for the nearest days.

Days 8 - 11Senja

During the next 4 days, we will fully explore the amazing island of Senja. We will do several mountain routes with slopes of up to 500 meters to reach the most incredible viewpoints in Norway.

From there you will see immense fjords that surround gigantic rugged mountains. Views that you will never forget. If the weather favors us, we will also try to see the auroras in these places so that you can leave with dream photos.

We will visit the Norwegian fishing villages of Fjordgard, Senjahopen, and Ersfjord, located in beautiful fjords that point north. We will also photograph the sunset and sunrise in Tungeneset. This rocky coast offers us hundreds of different compositions towards the increasingly well-known ‘Devil’s Jaw’.

During the worst weather days, we will hold processing classes so that you can edit the photos taken during our trip. And of course, every night, we will be aware of the auroras forecasts. So we will be able to see and photograph them in several of these locations.

Day 12End of the Extension

We will drive to the Harstad / Narvik-Evenes airport (EVE) where we will say goodbye to this photographic journey through northern Norway.
