Northern Spain Photo Tour

The North Spain Photo Tour, is our most complete Spain Photo Tour. Costa Cantábrica has grown to become one of the favorite locations for landscape and seascape photography for landscape photographers. The Northern Spain area and the coast is one of the most amazing places in Spain and even Europe. Its beautiful beaches, stunning cliffs, and rocky formations, as well as the impressive mountains of Picos de Europa, not too far from the sea, make this area a treasure to any landscape photographer lover. 

This photography workshop will take us through the provinces of the Basque Country, Cantabria, Galicia, and Asturias. We will be focusing on many of the beautiful locations of this impressive coast, visiting several locations, like the impressive island of Gaztelugatxe, Barrika, Arnia or El Silencio, or the amazing cliffs and coastline in Playa de las Catedrales. 

At the same time, we will be visiting and capturing some really picturesque villages and small towns during our trip, as Cudillero, San Vicente de la Barquera, Llanes, Lastres, Ribadesella, and Santiago de Compostela. We will also visit the famous city of Bilbao, where we will have a sunrise session by its most iconic building, the Guggenheim Museum. 

Apart from these villages and the landscapes, we will also be visiting incredible mountain sceneries and forests. Between these visits, we can remark places like the forests around Vega de Pas or the Picos de Europa National Park.

We will also have at least one post-processing session during our trip, in which we will learn tips and techniques to process some of the images we had taken on our photo tour. All these features make this one a really complete photo tour, which will bring you hundreds of photo opportunities and incredible experiences, and moments.

Day 1 & 2: Arrive in Bilbao

Day 3 CANTABRIA

Days 4 & 5 ASTURIAS

This morning we will enjoy sunrise at Arnia beach, close to our yesterday’s spot but with completely different rock formations and light. After that, we will come back to the hotel for breakfast and check out.

During the daytime, we’ll be able to visit these famous villages in the region and others like Ribadesella and Lastres. These villages will bring us a photography opportunity, but also allow us to enjoy the local life and food, including the delicious seafood in the area.

For sunset, already in Asturias, we will visit the Infierno cliffs. After this complete day, we will have time for a well-deserved dinner and rest at our hotel close to the area.

Next day, after all the seascapes, a change of pace and scenery will take us up into the mountain range. We are going to photograph the sunrise from one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Picos de Europa.

After sunrise, we’ll have breakfast and spend the morning visiting Llanes, a charming town with excellent views of the sea.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit a curious place, Gulpiyuri beach, a beach hidden inland, away from the sea. For sunset, we’ll look for a good viewpoint to capture the best light of the day.

Day 6 GALICIA

Today we will drive to Galicia, but before, for sunrise, we will photograph one of the most iconic spots of the tour: Castro de las gaviotas. When we finish, we will come back to our hotel to have breakfast and check out.

During the day, we will visit the hidden waterfalls of Galicia and try the excellent local gastronomy. For sunset, we will enjoy the last lights of the day at Loiba beach.

Day 7 GALICIA

Today, you will enjoy one of the most impressive beaches in the world: Las Catedrales. An impressive beach with large cliffs that offers us hundreds of compositions. There, we will spend the morning before heading to Santiago de Compostela, where we will visit the cathedral and the surrounding area.

It will be a perfect moment also to enjoy the gastronomy of the region before coming to our sunset spot at Faro de Isla Pancha, a lighthouse on a small island with excellent compositions for photography.

Days 8 & 9 ASTURIAS

It’s time to go down to the coast again, to photograph the outstanding coast of Asturias, full of wild, stunning beaches and impressive cliffs. We will capture places such as Gueirúa, El Silencio or Portizuelo beaches. Some of the most incredible locations for landscape and seascape photography in the whole country and probably Europe.

Luarca and Cudillero have been important fishing ports throughout history and still have fresh seafood and delicious restaurants. Lots of large jagged rock formations and many variations in compositions will be on offer for other key locations like Playa Portizuelo, Playa de Toro, and many other hidden gems.

Day 10 ASTURIAS

Today, we’ll enjoy sunrise at Campiechos beach. After our session and breakfast, we will have time to visit some cosy villages on the coast.

On our drive back to Bilbao, for the last sunset of the trip we’ll have plenty of spots to choose from, or we can even repeat one of them in case we had bad conditions the first time.
