Why book with us?
Our Namibia Photo Tour is a perfect opportunity to discover the most amazing landscapes of Africa. The unique desolate & desert landscapes of Namibia bring us infinite photogenic opportunities during all days. Here we will find the world’s biggest dunes of red sand, but also African tribes, wildlife in the Etosha National Park, and unique locations like the Skeleton Coast. A perfect scenario for night photography sessions all around the country.
During the 16 days of this workshop, we also will capture endless fields of grass, mountains, and the ghost town of Kolmansko. A complete experience to photograph the most iconic locations of the country like the petrified trees of Deadvlei or the Spitzkoppe area. But also the Quiver Tree, a plant that grows close to the Fish River that flows on one of the largest canyons on earth.
Our tour is designed to peak with the best moment to capture the Milky Way. This way, we can capture all these locations during the day, but also during the night. As during August, rains are not so often, we ensure to have most of the night’s clear skies to capture the stars.
A special tour designed by our photographer guides, together with an experienced local tour operator. Join our 2 photographer guides, together with 3 local guides that will help you every moment to enjoy the landscapes of Namibia. All meals are included, so you just need to worry to photograph during the whole tour.
We will be waiting for you at the Hosea Kutako airport. Here, will start our Namibia Photo Tour where our local guides will bring us to have a private diner and our hotel at Windhoek (Safari Court Hotel). It will be a good moment during the dinner, to know us better and give you the first tips for the trip.
Located at the center of Namibia, Windhoek is the capital of the country. Here we can find a full variety of shops & entertainment venues. The city is safe, and thanks to the German colonial legacy the organization of the city will make it faster for us to take a photo walk for the participants that are interested.
On the morning second day, we will capture the sunrise from the hills of Windhoek. After that, we will start driving to the south on our way to Quiver Tree Forest. It will be our longest drive day on our trip, around 500km. Anyway, we will arrive with enough time to see for the first time the Quiver ¨trees¨ before sunset. These succulent plants, with their cracked golden-white bark, are a unique and perfect spot for landscape photography, but especially for night photography.
Our accommodation for the next 2 nights, will be Maritz Country Lodge. Located near the Quiver Tree Forest, will be a perfect base for our nearest excursions.
These 2 days we will have the full day to explore the area. The days will start early, so we will have enough time to find infinite compositions and analyze with our guides our next steps. From sunrise to late night, we will be able to capture the starry Namibian skies in this location. With our hotel located in the area, it will be faster for us to come back for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the middle of our sessions.
After a sunrise session in the Quiver Tree Forest, we will drive to our next destination: the coastal town of Luderitz. There we will sleep in our 4 stars hotel (The Luderitz Nest Hotel). Once we arrive, we will visit for the first time the nearest ghost village of Kolmanskop. This famous town was one of the main points of the greatest diamond rushes in history.
The days will start as usual before sunrise. After a fast coffee, our local guides will bring us to Ghost town, where we will be ready for the first rays of light. After that, we will come back to our hotel to have a well-deserve breakfast and have a short break. For those who want to improve their editing skills, will be a good opportunity to share our knowledge with you in the hotel.
At midday, we will come back to Kolmanskop, so we will be able to capture the light entering from the open roof slats. Again, we will have time to rest and have lunch in our hotel before sunset. We will be enjoying the sand dunes around the town also, so even if we spend the whole day, we will help you to explore all the best compositions that we can make according to the existing light.
Today we will awake early for another sunrise session at Kolmanskop before heading to Sesriem. This town will be our base to visit the next days Sossusvlei in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. We will have our hotel at the entrance of the park, so our excursions during the day & night will be a short drive to any location.
The landscape of Sossusvlei is unique in the world. Created by a river flowing in the desert, Tsauchab Dune Valley one time was covered by grass but nowadays the desert recovered the area, leaving dead trees around the big sand dunes that cover the sides. The Namib desert with their characteristic red dunes, bring us a unique scenario to explore during the next 3 complete days.
We will be visiting during all the best moments of light, as it’s sunrise & sunset. Also, we offer you the possibility to capture from the sky (not included in the price) with a helicopter flight over Sossusvlei park. If you want this option, contact us as it can take only 3 passengers and we will manage the schedule for you.
Namibia is a land of contrasts. Today we will move from the desert to the Spitzkoppe area, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn and traversing the Gaub and Kuiseb passes. As we climb out the dry river bed at the bottom of Kuiseb Canyon, a spectacular desert landscape unfolds before us. We will travel through Namib Naukluft Park. Later in the afternoon, we will arrive at our lodge and then visit the Spitzkoppe in the afternoon with bushmen rock paintings.
Today we will proceed towards the skeleton coast where we will stay 1 night at the Cape cross lodge. During the day we will continue up the skeleton coast exploring the area.
The Cape fur seal is the biggest of the nine fur seal species in the world and breeds only on the west coast of southern Africa. We will have a sunset stop at the Zeila Shipwreck after we have explored the skeleton coast.
Today we will continue towards the Etosha National Park passing by Kamanjab. We will stop at the Otjikandero Himba Orphanage Village. The Himba are one of the last tribes in Africa living strictly within their tradition. We will have the opportunity to see them in their natural environment as well as observe their culture and gain an in-depth insight into their traditional way of life.
We will then continue to our lodge just outside the south gate of Etosha. If time allows, we will enjoy an afternoon game drive inside the park and return back just before sunset.
Our hotel is just outside the park at a private lodge. Etosha Safari Lodge is set on a hillock overlooking sprawling mopane woodland. The chalets each have their own private verandah with panoramic views. The main area offers a spacious deck, dining area, bar, lounge, and three swimming pools.
The Etosha National Park is home to over 100 mammal species, 340 bird species, and 110 reptile species. Larger mammals include lion, elephant, leopard, giraffe, cheetah, hyena, springbok, zebra, and eland. Animals, particularly during the dry season, are dependent on the many waterholes found in the park, and these serve as great places for game viewing. Vegetation in the park is varied but consists mostly of mopane woodland and grassy plains.
Today we will spend most of the day searching for animals. We will visit a number of waterholes and stop to view the Etosha Pan, also known as the “place of dry water”. This extensive, flat depression is about 5,000 km2 and a place of shimmering mirages. Seeing large herds of game in this setting is a unique experience. We may stop at Halali to have lunch, before returning to our lodge.
The game viewing in this area is usually excellent, with close-up views of springboks, zebras, impalas, giraffes, gemsboks, and plenty of birds. We may also see elephants and lions.
On our return to Windhoek, we will stop by the small town of Okahandja. Here we will visit the biggest craft market in Namibia. The stalls are operated on a cooperative basis by the local community and the market is a good place to do last-minute shopping for truly African souvenirs.
We will finish our tour coming back to Windhoek. Our last hotel in the capital is a luxury hotel, so we can rest in the hotel after our long trip. If you prefer to visit again the capital, we will make you a photo walk again to capture the iconic locations of Windhoek.
After breakfast, we will bring you to the airport where will finish our Namibia Photo Tour.
