Icebergs during the Midnight Sun Photography Workshop

Our Greenland Photo Tour, and unique adventure to photograph the impressive polar landscapes. During 7 days, we will explore the beauty of icebergs in maritime & ground explorations in Disko Bay during the long sunsets of this season. From our base in Ilulissat, we will be close to the gigantic Icebergs, humpback whales, and seals, in addition to their picturesque coastal towns.

Most of the places that we will photograph are easily accessible, so the trip is suitable for all levels and experiences. The photographers who accompany you will help all clients to capture the best images and process them during the same tour.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Ilulissat

The first day of the Greenland Photo Tour will begin with arrival at Ilulissat International Airport. We suggest you look already the views from the flight, as you can already enjoy the views of the amazing icebergs in the bay of Ilulissat. Once you arrive, we will be waiting for you to bring you to the hotel, where all the group will meet to begin this photo workshop on the Greenland Peninsula.

From there, we will go to our accommodation and base for all the nights that we will spend in Ilulissat. In the afternoon we will have a short meeting to talk about planning for the next days. After that, we will walk around the town, to know better the culture of Greenland. We also will have time for our first shooting from a viewpoint close to the village.

After that, we will come back to our hotel to rest from the trip and prepare for the next days.

Day 2Icefjord

After having breakfast, and recovering strength from the trip, we will spend the day visiting the town including the city museum where we will delve into the history of early explorers such as Knud Rasmussen.

Before sunset, we will take for the first time the boat that we will use to explore the incredible icebergs in Icefjord. Surrounded by impressive mountains we will look for the best compositions of the icebergs during the soft light of sunset.

Day 3Qasigiannguit

Today we will take a boat to visit Qasigiannguit. In this small fishing village in Disko Bay, we will spend around 7 hours. During the trip to the village, we will photograph the gigantic icebergs that surround the west coast of Greenland, in addition to being vigilant to photograph the whales that swim in these waters.

Once in Qasigiannguit, we will visit this picturesque fishing village. This village has colorful huts, so it’s a perfect spot for our photos. On our way to come back to Ilulissat, we will have the possibility of photographing whales and icebergs again. After dinner, we will sail again at sunset in search of the most spectacular photos of the Icefjord icebergs in the best hours.

Day 4Oqaatsut

Today we will have a little break in our intense trip, this way we not will awake so early. The planning for today will be to take a boat for a 3-hour excursion to Oqaatsut, a tiny fishing village of just 40 inhabitants.

During our visit, we will capture the characteristic cabins and church of the village. Among to continue learning the traditions of this area. We also will have the possibility of photographing and seeing the humpback whale during the round trip to Oqaatsut.

On the way back to Ilulissat, we will have dinner before trekking around the city to Sermermiut. This small settlement near the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier it’s the birthplace of the incredible icebergs that we have been visiting these days with our boat.

Day 5Icefjord

After the long walk of the previous day, we will use the morning to regain strength and rest in our accommodation. It will be a perfect moment for post-processing lessons and a review of the photos already taken during the trip.

After our lessons, we will take again a boat before sunset. For 3 hours we will take our boat to make an excursion through Icefjord. We will be looking for great compositions with the perfect light that we will be enjoying during this moment.

Day 6Sermeq Kujalleq glacier

Today, we will make another trekking to the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier. We will spend most of the day enjoying the views of the icebergs from the shore. Once we come back to our hotel, we will have time for the last review of the photographs taken.

As the days before, we will take our boat for the last time to capture the icebergs. During the next 3-hours, we will enjoy these iconic views of Greenland before come back to our hotel at night.

Day 7End of the trip

According to the schedule of the flights, on this last day of the trip, we make the last excursion around Ilulissat. After that, we will start our way to the airport, saying goodbye to Greenland and all the beautiful nature that we will have photographed during the last days. Here will culminate our Greenland photo tour.
