Our Altai Photo Tour its an excellent opportunity to explore the most beautiful mountains in Russia. The Altai Massif, or Golden Mountains of Altai, is located almost the same distance from 4 oceans, at the junction of the border with China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan. During our trip we will explore the most remote areas of these dreamy landscapes, the sacred territory of the ancient Scythians. Altai is a perfect destination for all of us who love nature, the great landscapes and, without a doubt, for any landscape photographer.
Located in the south of the central part of Russia, the Altai massif is a region with an overwhelming beauty in autumn. Its mountainous landscapes, its beautiful valleys rich in life and its fauna, the high contrasts that we find in it… everything in this paradise is worthy of being photographed. During our Altai Photo Tour, we will have the opportunity to photograph magical forests, infinite valleys, lakes and rivers… declared a World Heritage Site, due to its natural flora and animal species, some of them rare and endemic.

Barnaul Airport, Russia
Our Altai photo tour begins at the Barnaul airport, the group’s meeting place at a time that we will agree. This first day, we will take the opportunity to get to know each other and rest. In our hotel, we will get to know, after a long journey here, about the great adventure that concerns us.
Today, we will take the route to the Altai massif. This day we will arrive at the nomadic base of Aktash, a town that is already in the massif itself, where we will spend tonight. During our journey we will make stops to photograph the Chike-Taman mountain pass and the confluence of the two most important rivers in the region, the Chuya and the Katun.
During this day, after leaving our accommodation in Aktash soon, we will approach the mountain near Kurai before sunrise to enjoy and photograph the incredible views of this valley near the border with Mongolia, which in this language means dry land. From there we will go to Kosh-Agach, where we will photograph the incredible valley of Mars, some places that will remind us of the famous 7-color mountain of Peru.
In the afternoon we will go to Akkul Lake, where we will do our session at sunset. At the end we will return to Kosh-Agach to rest in our accommodation.
Today we will go to the Yelangash valley, where we will photograph the sunrise among its impressive mountains and forests in their maximum splendor in autumn. After our session, we will move to Kurai, and from there to our camp for the next few days which will be the Aktru mountaineering center. Once in our camp, we will explore the surroundings to photograph the sunset of the incredible views that we will enjoy from this point.
Today we will be all day exploring the surroundings of the camp, enjoying the infinite compositions that its nearby river will give us, the views of the valley and especially the Bolshoi Aktry glacier. The day will be intense since we will not return to the camp until after sunset, to which we will return for dinner and depending on the forces, take night photography.
During the following two days we will descend from Aktru to the valley, to move to Eshtykel and Yoshtykel. Here we can enjoy incredible landscapes of the mountains that surround this beautiful valley, its small lakes and rivers will give us the opportunity to make infinite compositions. In turn, at night we can take night photography of the skies that in Altai have almost no light pollution.
Our team of guides will set up our tent camping both days, from where we will be exploring the surroundings.
After our last sunrise session at Yoshtykel, we will return to Kurai to take a transport that will take us to the Katu-Yaryk Pass. On the way we will stop at what is one of the most magical points of our trip, the Geyser lake. Its incredible emerald green waters, along with the forests that surround it in the middle of autumn, will be a spectacle of color for our views and of course for our cameras.
Following our path, and already in the Katu-Yaryk pass, we will photograph the sunset from the viewpoint where our guides will set up camp. Like the other nights, the views offered by these landscapes are a perfect opportunity for night photography.
We will wake up, as usual, to photograph the sunrise from the camp. Once our session is over, we will go down to the valley to photograph the Chulyshman River, which we will travel until we reach the iconic stone mushrooms, where we will photograph the sunset. After our session, we will arrive at our accommodation in the valley.
We will return at dawn to the stone mushrooms, to photograph them at dawn. After our session, we will go to the Teletskoye lake. One of the deepest lakes in the world, and which we will travel by ferry to reach our accommodation in houses on the shore of it. Once at our accommodation, we will tour the area to photograph this impressive lake surrounded by mountains at sunset.
After our last session on Teletskoye, we will head to Barnaul. Along the way we will enjoy the landscapes of the Altai massif for the last time, so we will take advantage of the way to take our last photographs.
The Altai Photo Tour will end with the transfer to Barnaul airport.
