Guided by local expert photographer Hernán Calderón, you will have the unique opportunity to hone your skills and create stunning images of some of the most photogenic sites in South America. This journey will take you through diverse terrains, from high-altitude deserts and salt flats to vibrant cityscapes and ancient ruins, providing a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences.

Arrive in our Atacama hotel, where you will be welcomed by our guides. After check in, we’ll have a brief orientation session to prepare for the adventure, followed by a group dinner in the town to discuss our future days.
We start the day with a hearty breakfast while we move to our first sunrise session at Rainbow Valley. There we will enjoy the beautiful colors of this hill with a soft light. After that, we will come back to our hotel to have a rest. The afternoon is dedicated to photographing the stunning Vallecito, perfect for sunset and nighttime photography, including capturing the Milky Way.
Our day begins early with a pre-dawn session to capture the sunrise over the majestic landscapes of Piedras Rojas and the surrounding lagoons. We will spend the full day here, with breakfast and a snack for lunch included. These locations offer unique geological formations and stunning vistas, providing excellent opportunities for capturing abstract and landscape photographs.
Today we will have an early departure to photograph sunrise at Lejia Lagoon with breakfast included in the route. The lagoon offers perfect framing to stunning volcanoes. After that, we can come to our hotel to rest before our long night. Today we will capture sunset at Licantay viewpoint, where you can also enjoy a snack dinner. After our session ends, we will move to La Pacana for astrophotography.
We will spend the whole night doing astrophotography at La Pacana, where will also wait for sunrise. There will be a snack breakfast and hot drinks to enjoy the night with energy. After that, we will come back to our hotel for a well-deserved rest before traveling the next day to Uyuni.
Today we will drive to Uyuni, with a breakfast on the route before the border with Bolivia. On our first day at the salar, we will have time to visit places such as the Green Lagoon, Licancabur volcan, Dali desert, geysers & hot springs, with a snack lunch included. We end the day at Laguna Colorada, known for its striking red waters.
Once we finish our day activities, we will arrive at our rustic accommodation in Huayllajara, where we will have dinner and rest.
We continue our journey through Uyuni, visiting remote and stunning locations such as the Stone Tree and a series of high-altitude lagoons, such as Laguna Honda, Chiarkota lagoon, or Laguna Canapa. The day will finish at Laguna Hedionda for sunset.
Today all meals will be included again, with a snack breakfast and lunch on the route, and well well-deserved dinner at our rustic accommodation in Laguna Hedionda.
Today we will have breakfast at our accommodation before departure. During the day, we will visit different locations such as the Chiguana Salt Flats, the village of Chuvica, Fish Island, Colchani, and the Salt Hotel museum. We will have lunch on the route and finish the day at our hotel in Uyuni.
This night, as an optional activity, we can go to capture the Milky Way at the train cemetery and also wait for sunrise there.
Today again we will have time for breakfast at our hotel before departure for a day full of activities at Uyuni village. We will have time to visit the handicrafts market, the Dakar Monument, Salt Stands & the Salt Labyrinth with lunch included on the route. In the afternoon, we will arrive at our hotel at the heart of Uyuni, where you will be able to photograph sunset and the Milky Way with perfect reflections.
Our day will start with a sunrise photo session at the Uyuni Salt Flat. After that, we can come back to our hotel for breakfast, and also this morning we will have a developing & post-processing masterclass. You will be able to rest before our sunset session with a farewell dinner at the spot. There you can also take photos of the Milky Way again in our last session of the tour.
On our last day, we offer you two possibilities. The first option is to come back early in the morning to Atacama by road. We will arrive at the International Airport in Calama around midday. The second option is to transfer you to the Uyuni Local Airport, where you can pick a flight to La Paz International Airport. Both transfers are included; choose your best option.
Hernan Calderon
Hernán Calderón Velasco, a Bolivian photographer with Latin American roots, currently resides in the United Kingdom. His journey in photography began in Spain with a project called 365 in 2013. Since then, he has continuously improved his technique, influenced by notable photographers from America, Europe, and Spain. Passionate about capturing abandoned places and landscapes, Hernán has traveled extensively, learning the intricacies of lighting, exposure, and processing techniques. Mastery over his equipment is fundamental to his ability to express and capture his unique perspective of the world.
You must organize your arrival and departure from Chile and Bolivia:
We recommend that you schedule your arrival in the city of Calama for the start and end of the Tour. The Tour ends in Uyuni-Bolivia, but there will be a transfer service on the last day to Calama Airport-Chile. Approximate 7-hour overland trip.

The price of this Photo Tour is based on the participation of a minimum of 8 participants. In case there are not enough participants, the possibility of making the trip will be offered with an increase proportional to the price, or a 100% refund of the total paid.
The last time of exchange rate calculation was January 1st, 2021, the final price can be modified up to 30 days before the tour start.
Accommodation
The accommodations offered are shared double rooms at Hotels with private bathrooms and rustic accomodations with private and shared bathrooms.

Meals
This tour doesn’t include all meals. If you require a specific diet, please inform at the time of booking.

Our tours include basic insurance, we suggest contracting full cover insurance. Contact us to expand your insurance coverage.
Transports
Our tours include all internal transports (cars, vans, trains, or flights). We don’t include international flights, but we will guide you at the moment of your booking the best options to arrive to the destiny from your home.
Itinerary
The itinerary mentioned can be changed due to a force major reasons like weather conditions or accidents for example.
Payment & Refunds
To book your place you need to pay 25% of the total cost. The total payment must be made 45 days before the trip.
This tour is done by Photography Workshops PhotoWorldTours SLU, due to illness or other reasons the trip may be made by another guide.
Cancellations
If the client cancel the trip will lose the deposit paid (25%), but refund other payments due this cancellation policy:
– More than 45 days but less than 60 days to the start of the tour: 50% of the total cost of the trip will be refunded.
– Less than 45 days before the trip start: There will be no refund.
