Our Iceland Ring Road Photo Tour, it’s the dream travel for all landscape photographers. During these days you will have the opportunity to photograph these arctic landscapes. We will make a road trip around Iceland Ring Road during Autumn in the peak of the Northern Light season.

Therefore we will visit the most photographed locations in Iceland as the waterfalls of SeljalandsfossKirkjufellsfoss or Aldeyjarfoss, and the landscapes of Diamond Beach, Stokksnes, Hvítserkur or Vik as an example. Also, we will be looking to photograph Northern lights in these amazing landscapes all the nights. Definitely, a tour prepared to enjoy one of the most amazing landscapes of the world with experienced guides in the area.

A photography workshop open to all kinds of levels. All photography fans are welcome to capture the Northern Lights, as we will be teaching you during the trip to capture this incredible phenomenon. Also in our break moments, we will be doing some post-processing lessons. And before the trip, we will suggest you the necessary photography equipment to come back home with the best photos of Iceland.

If you want to photograph the northern lights in the Golden Ring, we have prepared an extension of this trip. Write us for more info when you book your place!

Itinerary of the Iceland Photography Tour

Day 1: Arrive in Keflavík airport

We will meet at Keflavik airport, where we will start out Iceland Photo Tour Northern Lights. From here, we will drive to the Snæfellsnes peninsula where we will sleep for the first two nights. According to the schedule of arriving of all participants, we will photograph the sunset in Kirkjufellsfoss, one of the most iconic locations of our trip.

During the night, if the weather its good, we will be waiting for the northern lights in this location.

Day 2 Kirkjufellsfoss

We will awake early to photograph the sunrise from the same location as yesterday, Kirkjufellsfoss. From here we will move to Gatklettur, during our route we will stop in different spots as the black church of Búðakirkja. Once in Gatklettur, we will photograph the sunset from these cliffs. We will sleep again in our hotel at Grundarfjörður, where during the night we will wait for the northern lights in these arctic landscapes.

Day 3 Hvitserkur

After breakfast, we will leave our hotel for the first two nights, on our way to the north. During our route, we will stop to photograph the landscapes of Iceland as the Kolugljúfur Canyon that will close to our hotel for this night.

For sunset, we will arrive at Hvitserkur. According to the forecast, we will wait for northern lights this night in our accommodation close to the Rhino.

Day 4 Godafoss

We will go for sunrise again to Hvitserkur, where will be photographing the landscape with the first lights of the day. From there, we will drive to the East, making a stop in Reykjafoss.

We will arrive at our hotel for this tonight and approach Godafoss. Once there, we will do our sunset session and we will be looking for northern lights during the night.

Day 5 Seyðisfjörður

We will awake early as usual to capture the sunrise from Goðafoss. Once we finish our session we will move to the eastern side of Iceland.

During our tour, we’ll make some interesting stops, such as Hverir or Hverfjall, where we can admire an ancient snow-capped volcano.

In the afternoon, we’ll arrive at Seyðisfjörður, where we’ll photograph the famous church and Gufufoss waterfall.

Day 6 Vestrahorn

Today we will pass the day in the incredible landscapes of the eastern side of Iceland to arrive finally to the south of Iceland: Vestrahorn. In our route to Höfn, we will do some stops to capture beautiful photographs, such as on the Hvalnes Peninsula, before arriving at our hotel at the entrance of Stockness.

For sunset, we will be exploring the area of Stokksnes with the characteristic black sand beach. Here we will be photographing the magnificent Vestrahorn and the sand dunes till dinner. We will make the most of our time, so at night we will do some night photography looking for northern lights again in this location.

Day 7 Diamond Beach

We will wake for a sunrise session in Vestrahorn before moving to Jökulsárlón Glacier for sunset. At Diamond Beach, we will be enjoying the last lights of the day, but during the day we will be exploring the landscapes of the Glacier.

We will have dinner close to this area, and if the prediction of Northern lights is positive, we will wait for it before arriving to our hotel.

Day 8 VIK

After breakfast, we will start our route to the south, leaving the island.

We will stop again in Diamond Beach for a sunrise photo session. Once the light is up, we will continue our tour back to the West and stop in Vik. According to the sea tides, we will visit the Reynisfjara Beach at sunset or the Dyrhólaey peninsula with its iconic lighthouse and views to the arch and the black beach.

During the night, we will wait for the northern lights in these incredible locations. Also, if the night is successful, we can explore the possibility to approach to Skógafoss waterfall to capture the northern lights there. So we can spend the night photographing the auroras in different locations.

Day 9 Skógafoss – Seljalandsfoss

We will come to Skógafoss before continuing our route to Reykjavik. During the day, we will be photographing another iconic location, the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, for a sunset session. At night, we will come to our hotel in Reykjavik, where we will have a rest.

I recently did a photo tour in Iceland with Eduardo, the owner of Photo World Tours. The trip was amazing. Yes, Eduardo is a world class photographer, but to be honest there are a lot of great photographers out there. It takes more than just photographic expertise to lead a tour – particularly in the conditions of Iceland – and Eduardo has all of the talents, insight, and knowledge to do that, and on top of it all, he’s just a good guy who is really funny as well (a trait that was appreciated on some of the long drives between locations).

I was very impressed with Eduardo’s knowledge of the shooting locations, but also the small logistical details that surround the actual photography… such as when the last restaurant closed in a small town in a distant location (you don’t want to come back from a sunset shoot and find out you can’t eat until the next morning!). He also led the group with a firm but kind hand.. something that’s important when you’re working with six strangers with very different personalities.

And of course, his photographic expertise is beyond compare. His knowledge of composition and creating art is as amazing as is his technical abilities in both shooting and editing. He was very good about walking us thru the best way to shoot something, the right lens to capture it, and gave us detailed instructions with the things that were new to us like capturing the aurora.

All in all, I can’t say enough good things about Eduardo and Photo World Tours. He exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend him for a tour of anywhere, anytime.

An unforgettable trip to Iceland, in the company of a group that, although international, ended up being a close-knit group. I came away with a great experience and new friends. We went with Eduardo Fuster as our guide, and in addition to showing us the best places and giving us tips for photography, we also had our chats about topics unrelated to photography. I’m eager to do it again.

In Oct 2024, myself and my wife completed a photo tour of Ring road, Iceland, for landscape and aurora photography.
It was my first time with photoworldtours, and the tour met with all my expectations; and even exceeded in some areas.
Our guide, was very experienced with Iceland. He took us to the right places for photography, covering all the locations . He has limitless energy, driving through the day, giving us good tips on photography at each site. His collection of music set the right mood on each journey. He looked after all the arrangements very well, and was always available for any help/query. Even after a hectic day, he had the energy and enthusiasum to chase the aurora. On one night, he readily drove me alone to an aurora location almost one hour away – while the rest of the group preferred the warmth of their beds. Apart form his guiding, organising and photography skills, he is also very kind hearted and friendly – a good man !
The hotels chosen were very comfortable – again exceeded our expectations.
PwT gave us a very good experience at a decent cost, and I would definitely go with them again.
My wife joins me in wishing PwT the very best in future!
