Our photo tour in Autumn to Japan is an excellent opportunity to photograph the landscapes of the rising sun country during the fall colors. The landscapes & parks during the season are full of red & yellow colors, while in spring the cherry blossom tour to Japan brings us magical views of these seasons, and during autumn the colors are more powerful.

This way, in this workshop we will focus on photographing his valleys, mountains, and gardens, without forgetting the two main cities as Tokyo & Kyoto. A complete tour around Japan to photograph Mount Fuji, Nara, Matsumoto, and other temples & iconic locations. Enjoy the Autumn in Japan during our travel around the country.

Itinerary of the Autumn Japan Photography Tour

Day 1: Arrive in Tokyo, Japan

Our photo tour in autumn to Japan will start at our hotel in Tokyo. We will move to Tokyo Tower for the sunset session.

After that, At night we will explore the area of Shinjuku, walking in the closest small streets to photograph the ambient of this area, doing some street photography.

Day 2: Fuji Five Lakes

Today in the morning we will drive to the area of Fuji Five Lakes. We will have time to arrive for sunset at Chureito Pagoda. One of the most iconic photos we will take during this trip.

Days 3, 4 & 5 Fuji

We’ll spend these days exploring the area of the 5 lakes around Mount Fuji, focusing on Kawaguchi lake r other lakes such as Shoji or Tanuki where we will photograph the sunrise and sunset from different locations. During the days, according to the weather, we will visit other places like Oshino Hakkai, Urui river, or Lake Ashinoko.

Day 6: Fuji – Kyoto


We will awake for sunrise in our village, photographing the first lights in this magical village. After that, and a good breakfast, we will start driving to Kyoto. On our way, we will make some stops to photograph some temples.

At midday, we will arrive in Kyoto, where we will photograph the sunset at Toji temple.

Day 7: Kyoto

This morning we will drive to Shirahige Shrine Torii for our sunrise session. After sun appears, we will have breakfast in the area and will move to Daigo-Ji temple to visit this beautiful temple and gardens.

After we visit the north of Kyoto, we will move to the center of Kyoto to photograph the Eikando Temple, where autumn colors are impressive at this time. At last, we will move to the district of Gion in the afternoon, where we will photograph his famous streets with geishas and the main spot in Kiyomizudera.

Day 8: Kyoto

Again, we will wake early to come to Arashiyama. Famous for its bamboo forest and also for the colors in autumn of the surrounding mountains. There, we will spend the day visiting several temples and shrines.

In the afternoon, we will approach the Golden Pavilion. Here we will photograph the impressive colors of autumn with the last lights of the day.

Day 9: KYOTO


Today we will visit the most iconic place of Kyoto, and will start the day with the early season at Fushimi Inari and its traditional doors. We will spend here a few hours till the tourists start to arrive, then we will go for breakfast. After that, we will come to visit the closest city of Nara, famous for its deers walking in the city. 

At midday, we will move to Osaka. There, we will visit Osaka castle for sunset. After that, we will move to the Dotonburi district to photograph the famous main avenue and taste the traditional food of this city. At night, we will come to Kyoto to have a rest in our hotel.

Day 10: Kyoto – Kiso Valley

Today we will pick our van to move to Matsumoto. On the way, we will stop in a couple of nice spots on the route. 

After lunch, we will arrive at Tsumago-Juku to follow of one the ancient paths that were crossing Japan and keep the ancient houses. Here we will enjoy the landscapes and rivers of this path till the evening. During the night we will have a rest at our hotel in the village.

Day 11 Kiso Valley – Matsumoto

After sunrise, we will move to Matsumoto, making a few stops at temples and parks. In the evening, we will arrive at Matsumoto, where we will enjoy the sunset and light illumination at one of the most beautiful castles in Japan.

Day 12: Matsumoto – Tokyo

We will awake for sunrise, photographing the first lights at the castle. After that, and a good breakfast, we will start driving to Tokyo. On our way, we will make some stops to photograph a few temples.

Once in Tokyo, we will move to one of the cozy scenes of Tokyo to photograph the sunset. During the night, we will bring you to Shibuya to enjoy & photograph the small streets of this famous district.

Day 13 Tokyo

After breakfast and a good rest, we will visit the Tokyo Forum to photograph this incredible architecture. We also will walk around Ginza district to take some other shoots. For sunset, we will approach to a viewpoint of Tokyo where we can catch the trails of the boats.

At night, we will come to the Sensō-Ji temple and Tokyo Skytree, when tourists start to leave the area, to photograph this architectural temple in the best conditions.

Day 14: Tokyo – End of the trip

Today will finish our Photo tour in Japan, and we will say goodbye to the rising sun country.

If you want to visit Tokyo with more time, you can write to us to add extra days to this tour. Also if you want to explore the north of Japan before the trip start, we also can make an extra route to explore the Daisetsuzan National Park in Hokkaido, Nikko, or the Oze National Park.

FAQ

This tour is designed for photographers of all levels, but requires a basic level of physical fitness. No strenuous walks is involved, but please ensure you are capable of carrying your camera gear comfortably.

Weather in unpredictible. According to our itinerary we can do editing lessons at our hotels, review your photos and/or visit other cultural spots.

We prioritize small groups, it helps that you can have support from our photo guides during all days and spots. Max group size is 4, doing a really small groups.

Deposits are not refundable, other payments will be refunded according to our cancellation policy.
