Join us on an incredible Sajama & Uyuni photo tour. Visit some of the most stunning landscapes in the world and unique to the list of Landscapes of Latin America. You will have the opportunity to witness unique sunsets, visit breathtaking landscapes, be in a place where the sky meets the Earth, and see with the naked eye the most beautiful starry skies that will awaken the inspiration and creative artist in you.

If you feel that this is for you, be part of a photographic trip of 13 days and 12 nights, full of activities and places that you can capture in photographs. Guided by local expert photographer Hernán Calderón, you will have the unique opportunity to hone your skills and create stunning images of some of the most photogenic sites in South America. This journey will take you through diverse terrains, from high-altitude deserts and salt flats to vibrant cityscapes and ancient ruins, providing a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences.

Itinerary of the Atacama-Uyuni Photography Tour

Day 1: Arrive in ATACAMA

Arrive at our La Paz hotel, where you will be welcomed by our guide. After check-in, we’ll have a brief orientation session to prepare for the adventure, followed by a group dinner in the town to discuss our future days. We will also have time for touristic route in La Paz, including the cable cars. For sunset, we will be at the viewpoints of Pampahashi & Quilli Quilli.

Day 2: SAJAMA

We start the day with a hearty breakfast before moving to Sajama. There we will visit geysers and also do a sunset session at the mud church.

Day 3: SAJAMA

Today we will visit the area, doing sunrise at Road Lagoon and finishing with sunset at the church or lagoon.

Day 4: SAJAMA-PUTRE

We will move today to the area of Putre on the Chilean side, doing sunset at Bufadales viewpoint where you can enjoy the views of Chungara Lagoon.

Day 5: PUTRE

Today we will have an early departure to photograph sunrise at Chungara Lagoon. This lagoon offers perfect reflections of the surrounding area. In the afternoon we will capture sunset at Cotaconi (drone recommended). After that, we can come to our hotel to rest before our long trip.

Day 6: TRAVEL TO UYUNI

Today we will drive to Suriri Salt Flat where we will do sunset.

Day 7: UYUNI

Today we will drive to Uyuni, with a breakfast on the route before the border with Bolivia. On our first day at the salar, we will do sunset at Tunupa and also do some night photography at the Salt Flats.

Day 8: UYUNI

Today we will do sunrise again at Tunupa. During the day, we will move to Uyuni where we will be sleeping for the next few days. Once the check-in is done, we will finish the day with sunset at Uyuni Salt Flats, with time for night photography.

Day 9: UYUNI

We will do sunrise at the Salt Flats and have breakfast at our hotel before visiting places such as the labyrinth, Colchani, and the train cemetery. In the afternoon, we will arrive at Ajhthaphi in the Uyuni Salt Flats, where you will be able to photograph sunset and the Milky Way with perfect reflections.

Day 10: UYUNI

Today we will be doing an internal visit of Uyuni, visiting places such as Honda & Hedionda Lagoons and the stone tree.

Day 11: UYUNI

As the day before, we will have time today for another internal visit to Uyuni, but today we will be visiting places such as Verde & Colorada Lagoons and the geysers of the area.

Accommodation: Rustic Accommodation at Huallajara

Day 12: UYUNI

This day is focused on exploring and photographing places such as the Salt Village, Puerto Chuvica, Isla Pescado and the Salt Museum. At night we will be photographing the Train cemetery.

Day 13: UYUNI

Our last sunrise photo session will be again at the Uyuni Salt Flat. After that, we will be visiting some touristic spots such as the Labyrinth or Colchani, the market, and some other monuments. We will have a sunset surprise at the Uyuni Salt Flats to finish our tour.

Day 14: UYUNI

On our last day, we will arrive at the Uyuni Local Airport, where you can pick a flight to La Paz International Airport or Sajama.

Hernán Calderón
Photographer

Hernán Calderón Velasco, a Bolivian photographer with Latin American roots, currently resides in the United Kingdom. His journey in photography began in Spain with a project called 365 in 2013. Since then, he has continuously improved his technique, influenced by notable photographers from America, Europe, and Spain. Passionate about capturing abandoned places and landscapes, Hernán has traveled extensively, learning the intricacies of lighting, exposure, and processing techniques. Mastery over his equipment is fundamental to his ability to express and capture his unique perspective of the world.

Recently, Hernán has explored the combination of traditional photography with infrared photography, discovering a new realm of colors and emotions to convey. His seven-year career has been marked by a constant search for his niche, deeply influenced by music, painting, and cinema. Most of his creations aim to capture the essence of the places he visits, driven by his passion for portraying the unseen aspects of urban and everyday life.

FAQ

This tour is designed for photographers of all levels, but requires a basic level of physical fitness. No strenuous walks is involved, but please ensure you are capable of carrying your camera gear comfortably.

Weather in unpredictible. According to our itinerary we can do editing lessons at our hotels, review your photos and/or visit other cultural spots.

We prioritize small groups, it helps that you can have support from our photo guides during all days and spots. Max group size is 8, doing a really small groups.
