The Spring Japan photo tour is designed to enjoy the sakura (cherry blossom) in spring at the most amazing country to photograph this phenomenon. For 15 days we will explore the main attractions of the land of the rising sun, from modern Tokyo, to the most historical Japan in Kyoto, and of course the sacred Mount Fuji. Passing through places like Koyasan and its incredible cemetery where we will live with Buddhist monks, to the landscapes of Nara, the Kiso Valley or the Jigokudani snow monkeys. In addition to other castles such as Osaka, Hikone, Matsumoto or Himeji where in addition to enjoying the architecture, also the colors that these times of the year take these places.

Narita Airport, Japan
Arrival in Tokyo. We will meet here to start the Spring Japan photo tour. This day we will visit the Meguro River to photograph the Sakura at night when it’s illuminated. Features over 800 cherry trees lining along the Meguro River, we will enjoy the blossom festival along the river. After that, we will spend the night at our hotel in Tokyo.
We will get up early to visit the Sensō-Ji temple during sunrise. From there we will walk around, touring the Asakusa neighborhood, one of the traditional neighborhoods of Tokyo. Here we can go inside and photograph the typical streets of small Japanese restaurants. After that, we will visit the Inokashira Park to enjoy the 500 cherry trees in the park. We will also have the possibility of photographing the Tokyo Skytree, one of the tallest towers in the city.
Our next area to explore will be the Ueno Onshi Park. This park features over 1,000 cherry blossom trees surrounded by beautiful nature, and it’s the most crowded park. Here we will find from temples to a zoo, a vast space to photograph the sakura and the lifestyle around it.
In the afternoon, we will walk to the Chidorigafuchi area to walk around one of the most famous parks in Tokyo for sakura viewing. Here will spend the rest of the day, before we go to the City Hall of Tokyo to photograph the city from its viewpoint.
This night we will visit the Shinjuku neighborhood, known for their small streets of restaurants. After that, we will spend the night at our hotel in Tokyo.
In the morning we will go to Shiba Park, located next to the Zojoji temple and the Tokyo tower. Here we can take pictures of its buildings and trees at their best at dawn and throughout the morning.
During this day we will visit other amazing parks of Tokyo to photograph the Sakura as the Shinjuku Gyoen and the Yoyogi park where we will photograph the sunset at the Meiji shrine. After that we will get closer to the Scramble Kousaten crossing. In this district we will have dinner before leaving for the 5-lake area on Mount Fuji where we will spend the night.
In the next 2 days we will photograph one of the most emblematic places of our trip: Mount Fuji. We will visit the surroundings of this impressive volcano, from the incredible views that the area known as the 5 lakes will give us, which in spring shows its maximum splendor with the cherry blossoms that surround these lakes.
We will concentrate to get our best sunrise or sunset from the Chureito Pagoda, from where we can contemplate Mount Fuji and the cherry fields with the temple in the foreground. Also, we will visit other spots as the Fuji Shibazakura Festival, Lake Kawaguchi, the old towns around Fuji as Iyashinosato, waterfalls, or photograph the shinkansen with Fuji in the background.
Once our session is over the second day, we will travel to Matsumoto where we will spend the night, and depending on the forces we will go out to photograph its imperial castle illuminated at night.
We will get up early to photograph the castle at dawn, before leaving for the Jogokudani Park, in Nakano, where we can observe the 200 wild snow monkeys that live in this park, taking baths in the park’s hot springs.
In the afternoon we will start our route to the south of Japan, stopping in the incredible towns of Takayama & Shirakawa-go, located in what is known as the Japanese alps. After photographing it at sunset from the surroundings, we will go down to Fukui where this spring night, they hold a special festival to celebrate the arrival of the cherry blossom.
We will get up early to photograph this beautiful town with the first rays of the sun and visit the river bank. At noon we will start our journey again to reach our next destination: Hikone.
In the afternoon already in Hikone, we will have time to visit its impressive castle at sunset as well as the gardens that surround it. Once our session ends, we will continue our trip to Kyoto.
We will begin our visit in the morning where we will approach one of the most incredible neighborhoods of our entire trip: Gion. Known as the geisha neighborhood, we can photograph geishas walking in their traditional costumes among old wooden houses and traditional merchants’ shops of yesteryear. Also in this neighborhood we will have the possibility to visit the Hokanji temple and get one of the most incredible photographs of our trip. The streets of the Gion neighborhood with the Kiyomizu-dera Pagoda in the background at sunrise its one of the most popular views of all Japan.
In the afternoon, we will visit Nijo Castle, one of the most spectacular buildings in Kyoto. We will also walk through the amazing Japanese gardens of Ninomaru. After the visit, we will go to the Nishiki market to have dinner and photograph this busy Japanese market.
Today we will get up early enough to reach Fushimi Inari before sunrise and that all tourists flood this iconic place. We will walk through its more than 10,000 torii at dawn, always looking for the best compositions and we will take advantage of the morning to visit this sacred mountain. After our visit, we will go to the To-ji temple, an ancient Buddhist temple that has the tallest 5-story pagoda in all of Japan.
In the afternoon we will come to walk along the path of the philosopher and if we have time to enter the gardens of the silver pavilion, close to the path.
We will return to the hotel early to rest and prepare for the next day.
We will get up early again to arrive before dawn at the Arashiyama bamboo forest. We will look for the best location to be prepared when the first rays of the sun enter this incredible forest. After our session ends, we will visit the nearby gardens of Okochi Denjiro and the temples of Tenryuji and Nonomiya near the forest.
At noon after lunch, we will visit a street much less known but that maintains the traditional houses of old Kyoto. In the afternoon we will approach another of the most visited points of the city such as the Golden Pavilion, where we can photograph its incredible castle at sunset.
At night, if the forces accompany us, we can go to the Yasaka Jinja temple, which is open for night photography. When we finish we will approach Osaka to rest in our new destination.
In the morning we will go to the Osaka castle, one of the most spectacular in the whole country and that during Sakura offers unrepeatable views.
This day we will go after our visit to Osaka castle to Himeji, to stroll through the Koko-en Gardens near the impressive Himeji Castle. In which we will wait until sunset to photograph it in its maximum splendor.
At night we will visit the Dōtonbori area in Osaka where, in addition to recovering our strength by dining, we will be able to photograph its famous neons in one of the busiest streets in the city.
We will get up early to visit the city of Nara. Famous for the deer that walk through its streets, and that also preserves the traditional Japanese style in its architecture. There we will visit the Kofukuji and Horyuji temples, the first one was moved more than 1000 years ago from Kyoto and the second is the oldest wooden temple in the world.
After lunch, we will visit Mount Yoshino, where we will have one of the most spectacular views of our trip with the Nara mountains full of cherry blossoms and that in the afternoon will leave us some spectacular images to photograph.
At the end of our session we will go to our next destination in Koyasan where we will stay in a shukubo, a Buddhist temple that will offer us a unique experience. There they will be waiting for us to offer us a shojin ryōri style dinner that is typical of Mount Koya. After dinner we can take a bath or onsen, and even take a night walk around the temple.
The day will start at dawn, when the Buddhist monks wake us up to join their Otsutome ceremony, two hours where we can photograph them while lighting a bonfire and reciting sutras. Once the ritual is finished, they will offer us a typical breakfast to start the day with strength. We will use the day to visit the infinite number of monuments and temples of Mount Koya, where the Danjo Garan and, especially, the Kondo Hall, the Fear Hall, the Fudodo Hall, the Vermilion Konpon Daito Pagoda and the small Toto Pagoda stand out.
In the afternoon we will start our journey back north to get to the town of Nagoya overnight.
After having rested, we will begin our walk through the Kiso valley in the town of Magome, the first of the towns that we will visit on the ancient Nakasendo route that went from Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto. Magome and especially Tsumago, the second town we will visit, were two main resting points on this route between the main Japanese cities. With industrialization, this route was practically abandoned, leaving these towns standing in time. This will allow us to photograph the most traditional and best preserved rural Japan of our entire trip. The route that we will carry out on foot between both towns, passes between full nature and in it we will be able to photograph in addition to the typical architecture, waterfalls and spectacular mountain landscapes.
Once our route is finished, we will continue our trip to Tokyo, where we will arrive to rest before starting our flight back the next day.
Depending on the time of arrival, we will approach Odaiba, from where we will have views of the Tokyo skyline and we will be able to take spectacular photographs at sunset. As optional activity (not included in the price) we will have time to enter the TeamLab nearest our spot at sunset.
Transfer to the Tokyo Narita airport and end of the Spring Japan photo tour. Flight back home.
Price based on the participation of a minimum of 4 participants. In case there are not enough participants, the possibility of making the trip will be offered with an increase proportional to the price, or a 100% refund of the total paid.
The last time of exchange rate calculation was 15th of May 2020, the final price can be modified up to 30 days before the tour start.
The accommodations offered are double rooms with private bathrooms. Except for the Ryokans that have triple rooms and shared bathrooms, of equal or superior quality to 3-4 star hotels.

This tour include a basic insurance, we suggest to contract a full cover insurance. Contact us to expand your insurance coverage.
All our tours include all internal transports (cars, vans, trains or flights). We don’t include international flights, but we will guide you at the moment of your booking the best options to arrive to the destiny from your home.
The itinerary mentioned above can be changed due a force mayor reasons as weather conditions or accidents for example. The tour is though for photographers of all levels, so we will prioritise the capture of photographies than tourist visits. Anyway, we always have time to rest or buy souvenirs during the free time.
To book your place you need to pay the 20% of the total cost. Reservations can be made up to 30 days before the start of the trip, and the total payment must be made 15 days before the trip.

Before 90 days we refund the 100%. Before 30 days we refund 80% of the total cost of the tour. Less than 30 days there is no refund (we recommend to contract a full insurance to cover this).
