Iceland September Photography Workshop

Our Iceland in September Photography Workshop is the perfect trip if you are looking for Northern Lights, but also long days as well as more warm temperatures.

During the trip, we will have time to improve our photographic and rebellious knowledge, learn about the geography of the country and understand its peculiarities and learn what is necessary to plan our photographic outings based on the weather.

  • Photography: we will learn the main knowledge and photographic techniques applied to landscape photography (composition rules, light measurement, ideal parameters for each situation, exposure, and focus bracketing…) and processing of the resulting photographs.
  • Geography: we will get to know the entrails of the island, and the reason for its geography, emphasizing the places we will visit.
  • Meteorology: one of the main factors to take into account when taking landscape photography is the weather conditions, and for this, we will learn about the main tools that will help us plan our images.

When we decide to travel to Iceland, we take it for granted that we are lovers of nature in its wildest and most natural state, which is why our commitment to causing the least possible impact on the natural environment of the country will be an of our maxims to fulfill.

Likewise, we know that it is a country with an increasingly important number of tourists, so in addition to respecting the environment, we must also be aware of the different regulations that govern this society.

For all these reasons and seeking the expected communion of photography in the appropriate medium, we must at all times respect the limits established so as not to cause any harm to the country or its inhabitants.

Itinerary Iceland September Photo Tour

Day 1 Arrive in Keflavík airport

We will meet at Keflavik airport, where we will start our Iceland in September Photography Workshop. From here, we will drive to our hotel where we will sleep.

Day 2 Golden Circle

On the first day, we will depart from Keflavik in the morning. We will face the first day of adventure through one of the most spectacular & tourist areas of the island, the Golden Circle.

We will start by visiting the Oxararfoss waterfall and the surrounding area which centuries ago was the first Icelandic parliament. It is a junction zone between the Eurasian and American tectonic plates. We will continue the day with a walk to the Bruarfoss waterfall, one of those places where when we see images we doubt their existence until we pass by them. After that, we will end the day with one of the country’s tourist attractions, the geysers, and after meeting Geysir we will continue to our last stop, the majestic Gullfoss waterfall, one of the mightiest in Iceland.

Day 3 Haifoss - Sigloglufur

The interior of Iceland is full of places that are difficult to access and impressive, we will choose two of the simplest but most spectacular, the Haifoss waterfall and the Sigloglufur canyon. Without a doubt one of the most special stops on this trip given the beauty and immensity of these two landscapes.

Day 4 Seljalandfoss - Vik

On this day we will depart in an easterly direction until we reach our first destination, Seljalandfoss, and Glufrafoss waterfalls. Located a few meters away, are two spectacular waterfalls that will serve as an appetizer to see the queen of the south of the island, Skogafoss, and her little sister Kvernufoss.

After enjoying several of the best waterfalls in the country, we will head towards Vik and enjoy the cliffs and arch of Dyrholaey. Immense black sand beaches that caress its coasts, spectacular formations of basaltic columns at the foot of the sea, and of course visit Reynisfjara beach. There a few meters in front of the sea we will see the sea trolls, the Reynisdrangar, and large pointed rock formations offshore.

Day 5 Vatnajökull - Diamond Beach

During the fourth stage of the trip we will be moving towards the East, visiting some of the impressive glacier tongues of what is the largest glacier in Iceland, Vatnajökull, we will know several of the great glacier tongues that descend from the main glacier dome, and we will visit a peculiar waterfall, Svartifoss, surrounded by huge basalt columns that make the sight of it very special.

We will finish the day in the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and the famous Diamond Beach, where small and large icebergs arrive that come from the constant breakages of the glacier front that we have a few kilometers in a straight line.

Day 6 Vestrahorn - Hoffel

We will visit another of the most visited places on the entire island, Stokksness, a temple for all landscape photographers, huge mountains at the foot of the sea in front of a beach with peculiar formations that will make us enjoy during the day but especially at times of the golden hour.

During the afternoon we will travel to another of the country’s spectacular glacial tongues to enjoy the sunset, in Hoffel.

Day 7 Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon

During this day we will begin the return to the West, and our first stop will be in one of those places to which the human being still stays away, a place that keeps its name like gold on cloth. We will reach it & we will discover his secrets and we will take care of an environment of enormous fragility.

In the afternoon we will end the day in the Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon, another of the essential sites in the south of the island.

Day 8 Reykjavík

On the last day of our trip, we will take a walk through the country’s capital, Reykjavík. There we will visit some places of interest before driving to the airport to take our flight back to Spain.
